Plus it's an easy essay so I can probably finish it in a few hours easy like.

So anyway, I never really got around to doing a write up of my weekend in washington. I think I'll do that tonight whilst I'm procrastinating like a pro.

( D8 ) Chatted a lot about old timesssss, sadly my old Latin teacher passed away earlier this year >: he was quite the character (actually all of my old teachers were). We talked a lot about SCIENCE and such. He's recommended me some good folk to get in contact with... Little did I know it turns out he's actually something of a world authority on BEEEEEEEEEEES and wasps and pollination so... a very handy person to have around! I think we'll go out for some more coffee later this term and more chit chat. He was telling me about all the stuff he's been up too, conferences in Washington, India and all over the shop.

I have a meeting in uhhh 1hr or so but I don't wanna go /cry
I haven't done any work on my dissetation this week T_T I'll have to work doubly hard next week to make up for it I guesssss.

In other news, I offered to play devils advocate for my discussion group in Animal Welfare. I kinda wish I hadn't now. I have to put together a convincing argument FOR the keeping of whales and dolphins in captivity... which is like... absolutely nill. I dropped an email to Sea World in the vague hope that they could hook me up, after all, if anyones gonna be trying to convince the world that dolphins and whales are AWESOME in tanks then it'll be Sea World tbh.

Hmm ho what else, I have a seminar to do on Human Altrusim (what does this even have to do with my degree) a piece on the Honduran white bat (don't ask) and a presentation on the mini and macrotaxonomy of bats.

Fun.

I bumped into my old teacher back from year 6 and 7 in middle school, he's an entomologist working in conjunction with my uni specializing in beeeeeeees and pollination. Haven't seen him around since I was a wee fresher but by luck I happened to walk past him on tuesday on my way back from class, so I guess he must be in Reading again. We're meeting up for coffee later in the week and I'm gonna pester him about whether he needs a post grad student to help him out with work hint hint wink wink.

It's so ingrained into me to call him Sir I have a really hard time calling him Stuart >:

May possibly go to London expo next weekend, as tempting as the notion of chasing usagikun around his flat with an airsoft gun is I think I'll leave it here and not risk getting shot. /lolguns.

oooorz only two weeks till term starts again.

Freshers week next week, I'm actually... doing work for a society this year! Gonna be dressing up in full camo and advertising airsoft soc. Though I suspect I'm gonna end up stuck behind the desk all day rather then getting to go walk around handing out flyers, but I think I'll live. Should be fun either way.

Also Alex got back from his stay in Venice and spent about 2 hours telling me about all the saucy italian men he saw.
I love our little strange conversations.

Yesterday on the walk down to town for some shopping we spent a good half an hour discussing the issue of "What would we do if there was a zombie apocalyspse tomorow." I felt a little sorry for the people walking behind us.

Some art I been working on lately on and off in between other things, I started colouring it in but it's so boring to colour huge things in when they're boringly monotenous in colour. I downloaded a trial version of coral painter 11 but when I try and load the .psd into painter it makes painter lag a bit D: which is really annoying. I wonder if maybe thats because the file is so big and the laptop doenst like it, idk. It's like 2500x3000px but it doesnt hang in photoshop... maybe I should just try track down an older version of painter.

Also on a totally unrelated note, Housemate B decided it would be a laugh this evening to lock me in my room (I left my keys downstairs earlier when I popped out to get some milk). I'm kinda irked over that since we don't play pranks on each other, my two favourite housemates are out with family this weekend so I was gonna resort to just bumping up the sub and playing some loud music till un-holy o'clock since housemates A and D who are the only others around tonight were co-conspiritors in the whole ordeal, could hear them all laughing outside.

But sods law they came and unlocked my door after about 20 min. Which I suppose I should be happy about but part of me really wanted to piss them all off with finding some crazy drum & bass to play till 4am. Considering as how I can fall asleep listening to music through earphones I wouldn't be suprised if I could even fall asleep with loud music from my room, which would be even better, plus housemate B is the lightest sleeper I know. But regardless, I'll have to safe that tactic for another time. Still trying to think of some harmless pranks to play back on Housemate B though, or maybe just some small thing I can do to piss her off without her realizing it was me.

I got up early today and made myself a fry up for breakfast :X /fat but idk if I'll have time to eat today anyway till dinner, gotta pack up the rest of my stuff, walk down to town and pick up some odds and ends then get the train up to leamington around midday to make sure I snag myself a sizable territory at Jkuns house before the other guys arrive and start stealing my corner.

I was gonna draw a whole dragon but fk that I'm lazy so I left it just at that and started colouring it in instead :D

Booked flights out to Washington D.C. flying out 19th November and back the monday after - the 23rd. How excitin'! It's actually over my birthday too (21 on the 20th you nabs) so I'll be able to.... drink in the US? Great. Something I've been doing for the past 2 years here! More interestingly to me, I'll be able to drive the hire car! Fk yeaaaaah!

I went down to town and got some photos done to send off for a new passport since mine just ran out, get that sorted and sent off for np. Also got my hair cut short back to shoulder length :Q so nice again, my sister and I had a laugh and a half dying some of my hair and tring not to dye everything else in the bathroom, rofls were had.

Mmmm, lots of other stuff but nothing particularly fascinating, arson attack at my old school :O had a bbq today, went out for a meal with family yesterday night, back to university tomorow morning D;

Photoshop CS3 blah blah blah tablet blaha blah blah I had to look up references for the wings because I fkn hate drawin wings with feathers on but I dun think they look too bad after I messed around with them for a while.

Too late to colour it in 'cause I gotta be up early to work on campus tomorow. Hum hoo. I really like it! Don't mind the blue filter over the top, I just put it there because... I felt like it.

I made a new lj layout, please tell me if there's anything wrong with it. It still needs tweaking I think. Some of the CSS is kinda dodgy, it's been so long since I did any coding at all ;x

I think there's still some width issues between the header and content but I can't figure out why (not sure if maybe it's just my laptop but it bugs me either way!) and some hyperlinks need tweaking too. I tried to do some fancy hyperlinks but I gave up! It's been foreveeeer since since I coded anything and I don't think I updated my lj layout in ages ;x

omgbrightyellow theme cause I felt like bright colours!

I'm sick of looking at CSS now so I'll fix any issues which I doubtless find with it tomorow whenever I get up:D!

Quick sketch (15min or so :S) since I recently put photoshop on here and installed my tablet driver. I used those photoshop brushes that change the shade of the colour (grey. In this case. how dull) depending on pressure rather then size of brush! They're pretty nice for lazy colouring rather then using regular 50% opacity brushes like I normally do :X

What hoooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Back at university, so anyway recently I been watching TV a lot (shocking, I know) and they been airing this short series on Channel 4 called "Inside Natures Giants". It's fascinating, but rather short, only 4 episodes. I really hope they do a 2nd series. The premis is pretty much dissections and evolutionary investigation on things that you wouldn't normally see being chopped up. In this series they do an elephant, a beached whale, a croc and a giarffe...

Okay maybe it's not everyones cup of tea but I like it. All four episodes are up on 4OD but I'm not sure if you can use that service outside of the UK :/ and possibly its not great for anyone who's not prepared for a little blood and guts (pussys). And by a little I mean a lot. Fuck me elephants got large digestive sytem.

SO ANYWAY.
SINCE THAT PROBABLY ONLY APPEALS TO A VERY MINOR AUDIENCE. If anyone. Nobody understands me /cry.

In other news.

I'm broke, hurray whats new. My mum had her court case over some fat bint accusing my mum of hitting her in the car and the judge decided that the woman was making a fraudulant claim (WHICH SHE WAS D<). My parents didn't get me my ANYTHING from L.A. T_T apart from a pack of skittles. I J D K. I has two new housemates in my uni house, both friends from halls of residence in first year. Bilbo, annoying housemate, has moved out and refuses to pay the £240 he owes us (sigh!).

Mmm what else, Beth trying to get me to join the gym, £18 for a month or so since I'm a lolstudent and it's non-term time. Not much else exciting! Swine flu levels have gone through the roof in England and we're all gonna diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Possibly not, we'll see.

And 2009 continues to be the worst year EVER!

Edited for clarification;

I crashed my car, rear-ended a truck towing machinery, managled the front of my car and barely left a scratch on their towed wood chipper aside from broken brake lights on the trailer thing. Pretty much completely my fault obviously, but to compound the matter, my family left on their holiday that morning at about 6am, they've gone to L.A. for two weeks so I couldn't get in contact with them till about 3am GMT.

Felt like shit yesterday and emo as hell, feel better now, been on the phone to my uncle since he's pretty much the only useful family member I have at the moment and set up an insurance claim this morning after a nights sleep and calming down.

I feel a little vindictive over the whole thing, the only reason I was out driving yesterday morning is because my parents forgot to pick up their passports when they left, so I had to drive out about 100 miles or so to meet them in Surrey to give them the passports so they could make their flight. I'm a little bitter over it all.

Oh a totally random note, we were forcast to have a heatwave this week, I can't speak for the rest of the south coast of england but here it's raining :/
